Family & Consumers Science (FACS)
The Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) program at Roslyn Middle School equips students with essential life skills through hands-on, real-world learning. FACS 6, a required alternate-day course, introduces students to decision-making, problem-solving, basic nutrition, and food preparation, along with the opportunity to complete a simple sewing project. In FACS 7, also a required alternate-day course, students deepen their understanding of personal development, healthy relationships, nutrition, and kitchen safety. They also refine their sewing skills and begin exploring career options. Aligned with New York State learning standards, the FACS program empowers students to make informed choices and gain confidence in managing everyday life.
