Art

The Roslyn Middle School art program offers students a dynamic and engaging journey through the visual arts. In Art 6, a required alternate-day course, students explore a wide range of media—drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and design—while learning about key art movements and historical concepts. Art 7, an elective course offered on alternate days, builds on the skills developed in Art 6, providing students with deeper artistic experiences and opportunities for creative expression. For students seeking a more advanced challenge, Studio Art is a full-year elective that fulfills the New York State high school diploma requirement in visual arts. Admission is based on portfolio submission, and the course emphasizes foundational design principles and art history, with work graded as part of the student’s high school GPA.
